Group Critical Illness

Group Critical Illness

Group critical illness pays a tax-free lump sum to an employee who is diagnosed with one of a wide range of potentially life-threatening conditions, including a heart attack, cancer or stroke.

In 2015, there was an estimated 890,000 people of working age living with cancer in the UK, and no doubt these numbers will increase as over 360,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every year*.

With the expectation that 1 in 2 of us will get a cancer diagnosis*, providing critical illness cover to your employees gives them invaluable benefits:

  • Giving a tax free lump sum, it provides reassurance that they will have funds to help them with financial problems which could develop if they become seriously ill
  • It could help them to pay medical expenses or pay for home adjustments if needed

As well as being affordable for employers, the premiums are normally an allowable business expense for corporation tax. You can provide this as a company paid benefit, or on an employee paid voluntary arrangement,
or a mix of both to control your costs.
